Lomarta Soli are a lively and versatile jazz ensemble in London who have been playing together for over 6 years. They recently formed the duo through their shared love of the performers, song writers and arrangers of jazz, Swing and big band from the early-to-mid Twentieth Century, citing shared influences such as Louis Armstrong, Eddie Lang, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington and Cole Porter. Assimilating the output of these icons of American popular music with their own interactive improvisation and informal performance style, they have the ideal scenario for creative freedom in their pocket-sized jazz band.
Behind the name
The Italian musical term soli means the performance of music by two (or more) people who are featured simultaneously.
'Lomarta' contains the first syllable of their names and with its continental tone evokes a hotel or bar of the Art Deco Era. This is reminiscent of such hotels in which they have performed; The Savoy, The Ritz, The Mayfair Hotel, The Waldorf Astoria, Claridge's, Brasserie Zédel and The Ned.
